This is the first time that Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt have come together for a film. The film is a biographical crime film that is based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai about Gangubai Kothewali, the madam of a brothel in Kamathipura.
The shooting of the film was stopped last year owing to the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting lockdown in the country. They resumed the shooting this year and the film is expected to hit the theatres this year.
Apart from Alia Bhatt, the film also reportedly features Ajay Devgn and Vikrant Massey in key roles. The film celebrates the journey of a girl who became the voice for women empowerment.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia has a line-up of some very interesting films in her kitty which includes, SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’. Apart from this, she is also a part of Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’ co-starring her beau Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. Alia also has Karan Johar’s period drama ‘Takht’ in her pipeline.
